• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Good evening, thank you to all in advance for your assistance in this matter.
I had ordered a VRS-EP (P2017A and P2017B) UHF repeater from someone on ebay, opened it up and discovered no transceiver on the YLE4009B board. So, I get my money back, order another and sure enough....no transceiver AGAIN. I have a number of questions as im trying to purchase parts needed to get these units working again:
First, does ANYONE have a picture of fully assembled VRS-EP internals WITH the transceiver? Please post them if you do, I cant find any.

Second, The Rnet-SLM 450 data radio, I can find VERY little info and even less for sale online. can anyone provide a part number for the correct cable needed to interface the rnet with the YLE board within the VRS? I believe the rnet has the db9 female port in this configuration, but cant seem to find any db9 to 16pin cables (the 16 pin connector being what i believe it plugs to, hence needing the aforementioned picture) It also could be a DB15 rnet...again, very little info i could find

Third: If i were able to purchase another uhf data radio, say from midland....with the above mentioned cable, will it allow the system to work? My main question being are the pinouts for the Rnet and other data radios sporting the DB9 the same? (doubtful, but im not the expert). Or are there any to your knowledge that share the Rnet pinouts?

Fourth : Are there any other options for integrating a uhf radio to this board? Ive tried researching the EXPO radio, the P50 aswell with little luck. Im not very adept at soldering so a plug and play setup is needed. Thank you.
