VSP has new two site licenses for SIRS fixed base operations on 39.5400 mhz. analog as shown below. I expect more VSP SIRS site licenses in the near future. SIRS comms typically are between VSP mobiles and base/mobile comms of SIRS equipped towns/cities/counties in rural areas. Although licensed some larger cities do not monitor SIRS comms as they are considered too distracting and some let their licenses expire..

SIRS comms are standalone analog simplex and not incorporated as part of the digital STARS system.. ....yet. That may change in the future. Meanwhile, some SIRS comms currently are successfully being patched into various larger city/county TRS. SIRS comms via the VSP sites will aid in SIRS evolving as another viable source of interoperability comms. At some STARS sites VSP dispatchers additionally will have to monitor for SIRS calls, i.e., SPHQ Div 1 and SPHQ Div 3 as listed in these site licenses.

The sites listed below are either an operational STARS microwave PTP relay or repeater site with SIRS being co-located.

Expect more comm activity on SIRS.

Nice to see that VSP is continuing the SIRS program.

Since this license appears to be co-located with STARS infrastructure could we maybe see links from STARS to SIRS base stations in the future?

I think it would make sense to link the SIRS and STARS systems, espcially for the outlying rurual parts of the state.

In the case of co-lo sites, it would seem very simple to provide a path back to the dispatchers' consoles via the IP network that STARS runs on. I'm glad to see it happening.
