Hi All,

I recently moved from Massachusetts to Henrico County, VA and I have a question about programming my Uniden BC396XLT for VSTARS.

According to the RRDB, it's a P25 system, and with numerous talk groups, I would assume that it is a trunking system, but I'm confused about how to initially program this into the scanner. The Glen Allen (Henrico) tower uses the following freqs:
152.15750
152.20250
152.60750
152.75750

My scanner gives me several choices for programming this system:
Conventional
Motorola
EDACS
LTR

Which one is appropriate for this system? I'm going to start on MOT, as I can't believe it's a conventional P25 system.

Any help appreciated!

I have successfully programmed in the Henrico/Richmond/Chesterfield TRS with good results so far.

Thanks,
Jim

Not familiar with the 396XT but using my 396T STARS is programmed as a Motorola APCO 25 system using Butel's ARC 396Pro.

Looking at FreeScan it imports it from RR as a Moto Type 2/P25 system.

STARS does have some odd trunk tables so it may be worthwhile to grab FreeScan to program it.

See the screenshot in the attachment.

Thanks, I will check this out!

So far, I have no joy on the system the way I programmed it (as a MOT P25). I'm going to see if I can even receive ANY signal at all, as I'm living in a basement apartment (with plans to move at the end of the lease), but I do get the Hen/Rich/Chest TRS loud and clear.

Actually, an update:

I got up off my lazy bum and walked to the window and can receive the system!

I just need to set up an antenna next to the window, rather than sitting with the HT on the desk.

Thanks again for the response!
