For some reason the battery in my VX6 gets very hot towards the end of the charge and the light on the charger flickers instead of changing to green. Using the rapid charger. Anyone else have an issue like this?

It's likely one of the cells has gone bad in the battery. Hopefully it isn't the battery maintenance circuit itself. It would be a good idea to take it out of service (the battery that is) until a new battery is purchased.

It is normal for the charge light to pulse just before full charge. The FT2DR charger does the same thing.

I'm gonna take the battery out. I have a spare. It doesn't pulse, I've seen it pulse before turning green. This was flickering and I mean the battery got hot.
I have a VX-8DR, the charger light does flicker before finally turning solid green but the battery is never anything but cool to the touch.

I agree, that battery pack may have a problem.
