Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

    If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

    To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am new to radio programing. I am trying to program a used vertex Vx-829 radio with with CE76 and a CT108 cable. I keep getting a "model mismatched" error. The display on on the radio says "PC Program" Any suggestions from the experts on this forum? Thanks

if you have a standard VX-829 (analog only) and not a VX-P829 (P25) you need to use CE-59. Ver 5.04 was the last I'm aware of.

Are you able to read the radio (upload)? Do you have the correct product type selected and an appropriate freq band?

CE59 = VX820/920 series
CE76 = vxP820/920 Series

Verify you have the proper cables, drivers, and your com port can see the device with no issue

Hi. I was just informed that this particular radio needs CE-106 Talon software. Thank you for the help.

Ah the infamous P829 Talon radios strike again...
As they were former Federal radios a lot of the regular features have been stripped. They'll do P"25 fine.

I just got one of these. These are pretty cool. Mine needed the talon edition as well but I haven't seen any feature missing. Only issue I have is when using field program. Even though I have the p25 options enabled in the field program section of the CPS, when I go into a digital channel it does not show them. Anyone have success editing p25 settings on a channel ?

I was thinking MDC, 2tone and some other things were missing. Nothing Ham usually uses.
Don't take this as gospel as I never did FPP with these (only Motorolas).
I think you need to set up channels with P25 freqs program and then edit those?
Talon users????

Under Common there should be a tab like this.
This screen shot is from the from the CE76 and not the Talon version.
