Looking for new mod info. This was beat to death in the early 2000 era. Yaesu now will not Mars mod anymore with this radio, the powers tobe put heat on them.
I live in Alaska surrounded by planes and boats. This is the ultimate survival radio in Alaska. Any help would be great.

I believe that marine radio is FCC Part 80. Did Yaesu ever have this radio FCC certificated for Part 80?

This bring up a subject beat to death in early 2000 era.
Has anyone seen the mod or knows some one that can
fix the expanded vhf range. I can monitor up to 165
but cannot do the other thing😉😉

You are asking about a fairly rare radio and you are potentially asking for modifications to allow it to do something that it was never FCC approved to do. You may or may not get any answers.
