Based on the manual, the TT4 is APCO compatible so if should be able go handle Cary/Wake Phase 1. Does anyone know how it holds up in a simulcast environment?

A friend wants one programmed, was wondering if it’s even worthwhile.

That's a 396XT.
Turns out it is in fact a BC396XT, incapable of scanning P25 Phase 1. They want it programmed for Granville County, which happens to have all of their Public safety on viper. Unless they still use their conventional channels, Looks like I'll have to break the bad news!

That's incorrect. The 396XT is perfectly capable of scanning P25 Phase I. It's not capable of Phase II, which isn't relevant since VIPER is Phase I.

I thought so too until I attempted to program it and the only 4 system types it has the capability for are Conventional, Motorola, EDCS, and LT. I was told that the BC396XT can't handle P25 while the BCD396XT can.

That is incorrect! The BCD396T and BCD396XT are both capable of P25 Phase 1. The BC396XT does not exist. The scanner shown is a BCD396T. The latest firmware for the BCD396T is 3.02.02. The 396T is only capable of a single site per system. The 396XT is capable of multiple sites.

Well I’ll have to stand corrected here and ask to pardon my ignorance. The info I received indirectly on Facebook must have been incorrect, but I agreed with it since I could only program this photo into the scanner. The video I was following chose P25 off the list, and my scanner only has conventional.

Select MOT as the system type and then P25 for the band plan. Unlike the 396T, the 396XT has P25 listed as a system type. I have both scanners. Facebook was probably showing programming the 396XT.
