Definatley not on the TRS for Alachua County. I think I got em on 858.4375 CONVENTIONAL. But the signal fades pretty quick outside of Waldo.

I want this freq to pick em up on my scanner, not to dodge a ticket! :D Everyone knows not to speed in Waldo!

That sounds about right...they wouldn't have the need for a strong signal too far outside of the city limits.

I'd don't know what they use, but I'll see if I can get ahold of the information from the inside.

Going to Waldo, don't forget to stop at Bobby's Hideaway
If that's the place on the east side of the road, just south of the Flea Market, it's been closed for over a year now. I did hear that they are turning it into another Cafe Risque, like in Micanopy.

Funny how its usually easy to find frequencies, yet no one knows anything about Waldo,FL....

Interesting about Bobby's Hideaway becoming a Cafe Risque... I highly doubt it... LOL

Could this possibly be Clay County's LTR Multinet? That freq is 1 of the 7 that they use.

Come'on folks! Somebody out there's gotta know what Waldo is operating on. I used to think it was a tin can/string system but I'm wondering if they're using Nextels or something to that effect.

you all better check out the acso talkgroups i do believe that waldo operates off of those channels. not sure of which one. as for the frequency 858.4375 that is a clay county frequency, my fire department is on the clay county system. i am able to hear our transmission really clear as far south as ocala on our frequencies at times. i always hear our frequencies in gainesville. but i would check the aso talkgroups for waldo pd. i know that they used to operate on the aso conventional before it all went 800.

I'm positvie they are not on Alachua's TRS. I listen to this system 10 hours a day on average. No Waldo PD.

Maybe they are Using Nextels.

I used to drink Beer with the Waldo Police Cheif, before I got into scanning.... Doh!

Can anyone near the greater metropolis of Waldo who listens to Alachua County SO run their scanner in open mode to see if there are any "unpublished" TalkGroups? I have found several TalkGroups in Hillsborough County this way. I'm thinking that Waldo is on the ACSO system since there is no trace of them in the FCC database.

Why doesn't one of you guys just drive like a bat out of hell through Waldo. Then when you get pulled over, look and see if the officer is carrying a two way radio. Better still, do something to get arrested, then maybe you can get a look inside the patrol car from the backseat. You'll have another piece of the puzzle!

Seriously, have any of you observed Waldo police to be carrying two way radios? What about antennas on their patrol cars? What about a tower or antennas at their police station? A little detective work is in order here. If they have 800 MHz radios, then they likely use the Alachua TRS, even if they rarely use it, as such a small town wouldn't likely have their own 800 MHz system. Or maybe they have nothing and just rely on Nextel like someone suggested. Good luck in the hunt!

If anyone has an old Police Call book you can see if they had a listing many years ago. If they did, there is a good chance they are still using the frequency(s) without a license.

When I was the APCO Florida Frequency Advisor the Chief in Starke called me one day and asked why I had put FHP on his frequency. I checked the FCC database and told him he did not have a license for that frequency, and I had assigned it to FHP. Turned out their license had been expired a little 10 years. You should have heard him cry when I told him he would have to change frequency.

A short time later, Yulee called me and their license had been expired for almost 20 years. I was able to reasign it to them. There was a station in Georgia that could have received interference, but the Georgia advisor said if they have never complained of interference in all these years he would concur.
