County Paging on both Conventional and P25

Paging is still going out anolog, but it is also being sent to a P25 talkgroup so they can have it in the scan list on the radios and not have to switch over between conventional and trunked.

Washington County Digital Problems

Has anyone been having problems with the digital in Washington County? My scanner just stopped receiving on Saturday. I have the Radio Shack Pro-106. It was receiving fine until Saturday and it just stopped. Looking for suggestions.

Rmki,
We moved the control channel on Monday. Check your freqs again with the data base on RR. You may have the wrong freq for our Ch. 2 which is what we rolled the CC too. Just a thought. My 396T is still hummin along.

Good luck

Cut-over

PrGuy... the dispatch centers are cutting over. Departments are starting to use new portables but patching mobiles until all of the equipment is installed in their vehicles. Should be getting off of the patches in the next month.

Good to hear on the P25 VHF TRS is doing great! Harris is going to do P25 VHF TRS in my county with a sub 700mhz TRS and conventional overlay see how that goes!

ScannerDude

It was good to have the fine representatives from Monerey Co. out here in Washington Co. doing there due diligence. Nice to see they are willing to spend the time doing the level of testing they did with the different vendor radios and types. Hopefully they will be able to go back to Cali and paint a good picture of what their radio future holds.

Oh wow didn't know they went out that way, but that's good to know they did go see your guy's system. I just hope they don't go crazy with encryption :(

Yep..they spent 2 days out here this week.. Think they were pretty happy with what they saw with the tests. Wouldn't sweat the encryption. Sounds like you guys have a wide area to get coverage... thats hard to achieve with any system with your geography unless you have unlimited funds.. and who has those these days.

Yeah 3,300 square miles is no joke with two valleys and some mountains that are up to 4000 feet with all the canyons and coast line. I'm surprised on how they do it now.One city PD said that want encryption.

New Talkgroup

Heard traffic on TG 57625 last night. Radio traffic sounded like a pursuit in Jackson; however speeds were at posted speed limits so I am assuming it was a test or drill. There was mention of Wisconsin State Patrol assisting; but I did not hear any identification by a SP officer. While this was going on my scanner stopped on TG 57511 [Municipal Law Dispatch] and it was encrypted. That might have been a fluke as it only happened once.

Hiya All...

Well....not only is Germantown PD entirely off 155.5350, but now 155.5350 is part of the trunked radio system. I also noticed West Bend PD was no longer simulcasting on 154.7400 when i was up there yesterday. I was unable to confirm if Hartford PD was simulcasting on 155.5500 as they had no radio traffic while I was up there. Also....Town of Erin DPW (TG 57825) is now the system.

I heard radio techs on TG 10002 testing a patch with Ozaukee County TRS (TG 255) which sounded good on both systems from on my end.

159.0900 Is still Washington County Jail Ops, but is now P25/Encrypted in conventional mode. Unsure if is simulcasted on the TRS yet.

I noticed today 154.7400 is now part of the trunked radio system. If I am not mistaken, I believe only 151.2350 and 151.1000 are not being used by the system yet.

Traffic

All public safety is on the system. All patches being taken down. HPD patch will stay up. Testing was done with Kenwood on the system on TG 10002. All DPWs now being installed and coming live on the system. No patch for Jail.

Your on it TIM :)

I live in Richfield, and its obvious that my current scanner is now obsolete with this new P25 digital system.

What are some handheld models that will work with the new system here in the county? I do not want to flop 400 bucks on the wrong one, since digital radios are mighty expensive :p Thank you for any input you can offer. I certainly do appreciate any direction :)

Hiya again....

I guess not all police departments are on the system yet. I just heard 533 on 155.5950 talking to dispatcher. I didn't get to hear the TRS, but squad's transmission was definately not digital sounding. I believe this is Trenton Police if I am not mistaken. So they must not be on system yet.

Well...I may be a little partial but I love the BCD396T (Portable)/BCD996T (Base) combo. I have both of them and while I am on the fringes of this system, it still sounds good when I can get the control channel in good.
