Question for the group? I have a Uniden BCT15X scanner and I want to know more about the Utah Communications Authority (P25). Although I am able to monitor most of the public radio service channels now it makes me wonder how much longer I will be able to continue before my scanner is incapable and everything goes to digital. I am on the fence as to weather or not to upgrade to a BCD996XT or just abandon this hobby of monitoring law enforcement. What does the future hold for scanning public radio and government?

You will actually need a bcd996p2 or a home patrol 2 hp2, or bcd325p2 is the cheaper phase 2 scanners that u can get, some run under $400, whistler ws1040 or ws1065 in some places run under $300 . All the rest of the scanners run higher in price. Digital scanners are expensive in general especially phase 2.. phase 1 wasn't so bad , but now its looking like phase 2 going up
