Strange things are afoot....

Seems as though the Waskom Police simplex frequency (158.97) and call sign WNRM-791 have mysteriously "disappeared" from the F.C.C. database (even terminated or expired) and from the RR database as well.

Hmmmm. I'm still hearing their "traffic. Now, the Fire/EMS/Police Chief are one and the same. I have noticed that on 155.385, the Police will use the KFF-623 City repeater, along with the Water Dept and VFD. The 158.97 frequency is simplex with "mobiles" only listed, but I know a "base" is involved.

Now, I "know" this Homeland Security thing is supposed to prevent "terrorist" from messing up communications, but why "hide" a simplex police frequency in a town of less than 500 folks, LOL! "Mayberry at it's best", LOL! But "Barney's name" is "Kevin"...mirrored shades and all.

Watch out going through Waskom on I-20 or even U.S. Hwy 80. "Kevin" is watching and waiting.

Waskom "Update"... :-(

What the Heck???

Ok, I've been doing a "Geosearch" for agencies with a county or "parish". In going to do a "regular" search, the Waskom PD comes up on 158.97 as WNRM-791.

So, if you are doing a search of the F.C.C. database for Part 90 agencies, it seems you have to do a regular search, then do a "Geosearch" as well to hopefully get ALL the agencies and frequencies. |-(

Now, as some of you may know, I've been doing searches to find ALL 'potential' agencies within a certain area to collect data to help the local NOAA Wx Service and EEOC's, so that if they wanted to "monitor" those frequencies for possible disaster or severe wx events, they just might hear a "heads up" from an approaching storm or tornado. This I think would be a good thing and such a "database" would never be accessible by "whackers". The "data" would be burned to CD and hand delivered, by me, LOL! The computer this data would be on would never be hooked to an I-Net connection and would be fully, software protected, so if it were stolen, the data becomes irretrievable.....long alpha-numeric "password" and after 3 tries, reformats the HD, LOL! "Backups" would be kept at the local NOAA Wx office and NO ONE breaks in there, LOL!

OK, now, I have to get back to work, hunting down agencies, LOL! Sun's not up yet and only static on 29.6 FM Simplex.

So, what is to prevent a whacker from doing the same online research you're doing? Then fancy protections schemes are moot.

searching the FCC Listings on Harrison county from this website does show that license as active and still there under Public Saftey conv. as WNRM791, also searching FCC ULS site, it shows up there as well as active.
