Anyone on the forum use any Watkins Johnson gear? My new found addiction to premium receivers has led me to the WJ stuff. Was curious if there is any other WJ owners on here...

I don't have a WJ receiver, but I've used them before. One of these days I'll add one to my collection. They're a pure joy to operate, and the performance is well worth the money. I've long been a fan of high end HF receivers.

I currently own an ITT Mackay 3041A.

Oh boy you're making me drool all over the keyboard! If you can afford the best buy the best and learn how to use it, you'll reach Nirvana.

"12 volt radios are for wimps. Real radios can kill you."

That's why you should leave the cover on and never defeat the safety interlocks. Oh BTW, if you've ever operated a real transmitter you know what a Jesus stick is. (;->)

A good guy I met on the web sent me this photo of his VERY nice collection of Watkins gear. The VHF/UHF models there are the same model that I purchased recently. incredible receivers...

Holy Cow...<as my jaw hits the ground with a less than satisfying 'THUD'> Radio Porn indeed. What a nice rack (and yes, I chose that word specifically for the effect...)

Rats, I thought my "nice rack" comment was the "original" one in the other thread Jody has going. :(

This is indeed one setup to drool over. I never thought of these radios being remotely in my price range. Maybe someday; I'll have to do some research on these, seems there are a lot of different flavors of them.

Thanks for the info.
