Wave form audio monitoring

Okay, maybe this had been answered before but I'm not having any luck. What media program can i use to listen to archived feeds that will provide me with an audio wave so I can skip dead air? Is there such a thinking? And also is there a program to see TG id's? Thanks

I use audacity to see where activity is in archives. It is a good, and free, program.
