From CSP Press Release:

On 08-15-09 at approximately 12:40 PM, the Colorado State Patrol responded to a fatal crash southbound Colorado 85 milepost 237 in Weld County.

A black 2004 Kia Sorento and a silver 1987 Honda Accord were traveling southbound on Colorado 85. The Kia was traveling in front of the Honda. The Kia attempted to make a U-turn in the roadway and was struck from behind by the Honda. The Kia came to final rest just of the roadway. After impact, the Honda left the west side of the roadway and traveled down a steep embankment.

The restrained female driver of the Kia has been identified as Angelica Bujanda, 35 of Ft. Lupton, CO. Bujanda sustained minor injuries and was transported to Denver General Hospital. Bujanda was later booked into the Weld County Jail. Charges are listed below.

A restrained female passenger in the Kia has been identified as Alexis Trujillo, 13 of Ft. Lupton, CO. Trujillo sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Denver General Hospital.

A restrained female passenger in the Kia has been identified as Ashley Salayandia, 7 of Ft. Lupton, CO. Salayandia sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Denver General Hospital.

The unrestrained driver of the Honda has been identified as Crystal Herman, 32 of Brighton, CO. Herman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in this crash. The crash remains under investigation.

Angelica Bujanda has been charged with the following:

-- Vehicular Homicide (DUI)
-- Drove a motor vehicle while license revoked as an Habitual Offender (Aggravated)
-- Two counts of Child Abuse (criminal negligence resulting in injury)
-- DUI (Alcohol)
-- Made an unsafe U-turn at an intersection (or any other location)
-- Failed to signal as required for a (Turn/Stop/Sudden Decrease in Speed)
