It's been awhile since there was any update on this West Memphis thread. I just got a BCD536HD. Using Sentinel I have the West Memphis system set up as a favorite using the import from RR. Sentinel correctly setup as a DMR MotoTRBO system as has been discussed, but there is absolutely zero hits on monitoring traffic. Is this system being monitored successfully by anyone and if so, any suggestions on proper setup on my 536? Thanks in advance.

I was through there a couple of weeks ago and when I got within range there was quite a bit of traffic coming through on my Whistler WS1098.

Yes, back before they went digital it was very active. That means I don't have something setup correctly in Sentinel for my 536 scanner. Have tried every setting for DMR MotoTRBO, as imported from RR to no avail.

Well, I've experimented with this system all weekend to no avail. I tried conventional DMR just to see if there was anything and I get no activity at all (as an experiment after reading some other posts from around the country). Of course, in the RR import as a MotoTRBO system, it is also dead, or at least dead to me. I know West Mem was encrypted on their previous system. Not sure how that works on TRBO. Very frustrating. I've got both my 536 and a Whistler 1080 trying different scenarios, all with zilch. Oh well, I gave it a good try. Really enjoyed this system several years ago.

Edit: wondering if their site is down. In TRBO I get no signal strength on any frequency, especially the one said to be the CC in RR. Maybe that's the problem.

That is correct. However, I do wish someone locally would respond and confirm whether they can monitor West Memphis Police or not on the MotoTRBO frequencies in the database. I receive the EMS analog stuff on the old frequencies just fine but can't get any sniff of activity on the new 400 DMR frequencies. As I said, tested numerous ways, but couldn't get any "hits". But, another local user could really help in knowing if it's just my setup on the TRBO freqs or are they still using the old frequencies with encryption.

I was in Memphis last week and from the 26th floor of the Hilton could not hear West Memphis. I realize I was pretty far east but would have thought I should be able to hear them at that elevation.

The night before I was in the Courtyard downtown and could see the bridge from my room but didn't think to try it...

Has anyone actually heard them recently and can confirm whether they are are using the DMR and if they are encrypted or not?

I've had some PM's from another enthusiast who lives closer to West Mem than I do who does monitor the new MotoTRBO system. I live in Germantown and I cannot pick up a strong enough signal to decode. Believe me, I've tried. I can get every other system in East Arkansas, but the West Memphis repeater must be very low power. My signal strength meter rarely gets over .3000 on my 536. I guess that's not strong enough to monitor. Used to listen to WM a lot, but I guess with a weak repeater, those days are over. Haven't been on a trip to Arkansas to test, but I do know from others that the system works.

i'm sitting at the Petro in West Memphis tonight (Wednesday 2-1-17 18:00) and hearing them loud and clear as I type this, i know i lose them after the bridge pretty quickly
they are in the clear, and they know it, i remember who i think was a sgt asking for a landline because the radios were not secure, they are not really a hugely busy department for being next to the big city

i think i heard a little encryption a short time ago, also the 536 is having some following issues looks like

Yeah, I know I picked them up when I passed through awhile back on my way to Memphis...heard them loud and clear when I was on I55 passing through the WM area but not much outside of there. Must be really localized.
