What happened with the buildout of this system? I see the EDACS is no longer on the database, so what is West Orange actually operating on now?

Pretty crazy all that money and 3 TGs. Sometimes I see TG107 which seems to be SPEN but not too often. They have it over modulated as well, at least some of the dispatchers sound terrible.

For real; especially since the NJICS is literally near-full-coverage for even portables in that area.
Home-rule is a disaster in this state.
I suppose the DB needs to be updated to have the P25 under the WO category.

West Orange has been using the P25 system full time since November 2022. Even with the old EDACS system they only actively used 3 talkgroups.

Are they going to work on the audio or just leave it sounding like garbage?
Fire console mic gain needs to be turned down holy hell.

A lot of APX8000’s...

every p25 system i hear sounds terrible, either too hot or a whisper. they must have hired the Marx brothers to do the system acceptance.

In designing these systems I don't think Motorola takes into account The needs of scanner listeners with SDS 100s and other scanners.... From what I have been told these systems sound just fine on the professional Motorola portables...

AES-256 secured
Its also a training issue for some. I've literally seen some dispatchers lean forward in their chair, rest on the desktop and almost eat the mic. And when you back them away and have them sit upright in their chair all the problems go away.

Not necessarily. I've heard some systems over Motorola's that sound terrible.

I grew up in West Orange, been monitoring them from the 45.62 low band, to 155.415 VHF, to the 800 EDACS system, and now the 800 P25 . I would be curious how the audio quality is on the WOFD portables. Our company provided the WOPD with some Communications Equipment back in the day....
