I live in Lane County in western Kansas. I am needing a scanner that can pick up the new state digital frequencies and just this county's local frequencies. Any suggestions?

Radio Shack Pro106 (20-106) and the Pro-197 (20-197) are both on sale this week. The handheld Pro-106 is $249.99 and the base/mobile is $299.99 right now. The Garden City Store has both in stock the website says. You could even afford to buy an outside antenna for that price.....

I'll second the suggestion for the PRO106/197. I am out there on a regular basis, and my PRO 106 gets excellent reception with the RS 800 Mhz antenna in my vehicle. Also, I can pick up most of the sites in the area with it from the 3rd floor of the Comfort Inn in Garden City.

I have the Uniden 396 and 996 along with a GRE600. The GRE (same as the Radio Shack desktop model described above) has much better digital audio recovery. Either will work though. Personally, I'd second the Radio Shack recommendations.
