Westmoreland, PA - House Fire
On the 27th of March 2009, Scottdale Station 58 was activated by Westmoreland 911 Fire Dispatch, to respond to a reported residential structure fire in the Boro. A caller stated they saw smoke coming from a home located on North Broadway near Mt. Pleasant Rd. Station 58 acknowledges and units respond, and when Command 58 arrives on scene he reports smoke showing, with heavy fire in the basement area extended up the walls into the attic. The occupant of the residence is unaccounted for. Arriving crews get handlines into operation quickly and set up a water supply. An interior attack puts a fairly quick knock on the bulk of the flames, and a primary search is done on Divisions 2 & 1, coming up negative. As ventilation begins, crews search the basement where the fire started and find the deceased resident. Crews continue to hit hot spots and mop up as the Fire
