Thanks for the info!
I heard some traffic on that frequency yesterday afternoon, but I didn't listen to it that long...
I need to listen longer I guess :)
Did you find that frequency in the database here on RR? I couldn't find any USCG frequencies in the DB myself...

I knew about the "Company Air" freq, Don't have any Coast Guard. Would Guess it'd be in the marine band and in Mil bands. The Marine AM band is kinda noisy so I didn't listen too long. It's easier to get stuff from long didstances in the air and from high elevations. Didn't hold out too much hope for USCG Ground/Marine. Anybody got any Ideas? Some good air stuff though.

I always have ch16 156.800 scanning, that is the emergency channel for all water craft to call for help from the Coast Guard. I do not know if it is in the DB but the BC396 will show you the channel assignments in the marine service search.

I've been able to "follow" the whales by listening to KCRA (and sometimes KXTV) studio link channels. KCRA studio to reporters is 450.1000 MHz.

Both KCRA and KXTV Comms are good to listen to and air to air. The helos are kinda working together. There is even helos from the Bay Area.

CNN is using KCRA's chopper being that they are the only local CNN affiliate with a chopper, I was over at KCRA Monday and they were doing a lot of coordinating with CNN about the chopper because KCRA has been swapping out with KNTV's chopper but KNTV is not a CNN affiliate. KPIX also has chopper 5 over the whales during show time and it is staying at Executive during the off times to save fuel and then flying back to Hayward overnight.

KCRA: 450.100 PL 141.3
KXTV: 450.3875 PL 167.9
KPIX: 450.5125 DCS 074

During show time KCRA's air signal in broadcast on 450.550 PL 141.3 so the chopper can hear it with out a delay.

I Heard CHP talking to somebody on their company air freq, 122.875 about coordinating with Coast Guard for some observation work. CHP air said that CG was operating on Channel 21A. I did some digging and found a link that might be helpful.

There's a newscon coming up soon. Got to get ready for the day so good luck with this info.

Have added sweeps of the marine band. CHP 21 is talking to Rio Vista periodically. I'm using my 245 for the sweeps. It's hard to get the channel/freq and there's alot of junk I'm picking up cause of where I live. The band is so small that I'm just going to scan and stream what I find. The 245 will be panned over to the mid-right on the stream. Have heard som e Coast Guard Advisories about the whales, but nothing as yet from ground units on the river. I've had to squelch up the 245 prety high to keep out the junk, We'll see and hear what we find.

Laast news was they were moving north again. from Air10.
