What Did I Do Wrong At NASCAR - Pro 97

Good evening;

I am relatively new to the scanning scene, so please excuse my ignorance in asking this question.

I was at the NASCAR race in Michigan on the weekend and had some drivers frequencies, track officials, as well as the TSN broadcast frequency programmed into my Pro 97.

While in scan mode, the scanner would not stop on any active frequency even though I had the squelch set to the lowest level. If I switched to manual mode and stepped through the frequencies, I could receive the transmissions fine.

Any suggestions at to what I did wrong? I'm thinking I'm way over my head with this scanner, and need something simpler (like me).

What antenna were you using (stubby, stock...)?

Did You Have The Mode Set I.e. Fm, Am Ect, ALSO IF YOU DONT WANT TO DO IT YOUR SELF I RECOMEND USING WIN97 A COMPUTEER PROGRAM IN CONJUCTION WITH A USB CABLE AND YOU CAN UPLOAD FROM RR.

Did you have the CT or DCt Set or maybe set to the wrong code that would probably cause your problem I believe if the Pl codes are set it will use those sqelch the signal

Not sure what all those abbreviations stand for, but here is what is displayed on the top row of the screen:

P709...D.+ED

I have figured out that the first part is the bank and channel number, but the rest is a mystery to me.

I was using the stock rubber antenna at the track also.

P = program mode
709 = channel
D = delay
+ED Trunking. this is wrong need to use mode and change each channel to FM

You have it set up for trunking For racing needs to be FM

ok the p709 means program channel 709

the D means delay which means that the scanner will hold on the ch for 2 sec after the end of a transmision


but here is your problem you have it set ED or Ericisson trunking mode and i am not positive but all Nascar freqs for the drivers are in FM so when you program it you need to hit the mode button until the ED is FM
