the 147.38 machine is GREAT for the westside - but for really quiet East & West side coverage (no nets, no rag chewing) the 146.98 machine is great too (and it has tone squelch on the transmit of the machine, so you don't have to listen to the code ident)

but I will keep an ear on both for anyone, Im on in the evenings

The 147.435 covers west and east good plus it is connected with it's sister repeaters on 10 meter, 6 meter and 70cm so it gives you several ways in and out. I will admit the funky offset for the 2m side can be a pain to deal with at 1st but it's a great system and get very little use.

I spend a great deal of time helping on it's up keep and can asure you that the owner and few users that are on it would not mind sharing it with others! Give it a try!

BOEC isn't really worth scanning if you are just passing through. Since the county is so narrow, driving north and south on I5 would have you listening to central dispatch for 10 minutes, then north dispatch for 10 minutes, then your your out of the county and scanning a different system. The same goes for east & southeast dispatch if you are traveling I205. Even if you are driving East/West on I84, you are better off monitoring OSP - Portland, they get handed more of the road hazard and wreck info in the gorge.

Those are some great photos in your gallery. The videos are equally as impressive. I've lived in Oregon all my life, seen just about everything you've taken a picture of in Oregon, but have never taken the time to take a picture myself to really appreciate how impressive our state really is.

I listen to Douglas County Communications which is just about everything here and also State Police and ODOT. Frequencies are Vhf Hi and Uhf. DCC has an MPT1327 trunk system for Public Works and a few various county depts.. Douglas Electric also uses the system as a paid user. I you live or visit here 155.7000(Law1), 155.5500(Law2), 154.3700(Fire1) and 154.8150(OSP) would be you best bet for keeping up on the action.

I live at the end of the Washington County line in Sherwood, so I pick up WCCCA loud and clear (lParrett Mountain), and on the occasion I get bored, I switch over to YCOM, mainly for fire dispatch.
