BCD436HP/BCD536HP: what series of serial numbers are considered "new"?

I called a HRO here in Texas, and talked to a real nice guy there, and he said when ever i order one, he can hopen the box for me and give me a serial #, so that's good to hear, and where i'll be getting one when i get the $$$

My 436 arrived today! I am very impressed so far. I was literally pulling in systems in minutes. I put an SRH519 on it. I haven't really compared the stock antenna to the 519 yet, but so far I'm pulling in some pretty distant signals.

Next up - setting up some favorites.

This weekend I'll install Arc536pro.

The serial number on the main screen under scanner information,or you just could go read the Manual.

There is an ESN within the radio menu but the serial number is on the back (they match with one small difference at the beginning). They were probably referring to the ESN in the menu.

Im thinking of getting a 436 myself, to go along with my 536, i got 2 different 536's, returned the first, because ith ad a low serial # of 4800, got another one, that i ordered from Ham Radio Outlet, but still got a 4800 serial #, but i see no problems with the one i have now, so we shall see. But i am looking into the 436 now.

Buy it from HRO they will open the box for you.

They wouldnt for me at the Plano Tx location, i talked with the manager on the phone, and she said they couldnt do that, because they would have to open the box, and customer's in the store wouldnt buy it because they would think it was returned, or because it was "open box"

there is a sticker on the outside of the box. i thought this was the serial # also. is this true?

Also please let us know from where you ordered the 436. I know you said amazon, but from where? I want to order one and am STILL waiting on someone to confirm where they RECEIVED the newest release from.

Couldnt agree more, but they didnt want to do it on my 536, one of the saleman said they could, then the lady manager, said they couldnt do that.
