If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

What type of crimp connector do I need for the 10 wire flat conductor between the radio and remote head?

I need to crimp a new end on the 10 wire flat conductor that connects between my radio and remote head in my car. What kind of connector is this so I can get some?

Thanks!

Assuming you're referring to a remote head CDM, the connector is commonly referred to as an RJ50.

RJ-50 10 pin/10 conductor, as AFD said.

However, the outer two pins are for DTMF (If I recall correctly), and not needed if you are not using a DTMF mic. I use the standard mics with mine and use a standard RJ-45 "CAT5" cable between the RF deck and control head. Been working fine for about 10 years now.

That connector worked great, thank you.

I have also used a regular Cat-5 cable before and I do know they work, however this is in my car and I already ran the 10 wire flat conductor that came with the kit through the floorboard and headliner so I needed the correct connector for this cable.
