Not sure if anyone can help but Ive sent many emails to Don Starr as Ive lost my reg info for Win96. Does anyone know how I can get this info from him?

Not sure if he's not getting my emails or if my email is blocking him.

If anyone can help that would be great.

Thanx

A few months ago I had the same problem. It took like 4 weeks for him to get back to me with my new codes. I sent numerous e-mails and Im's though RadioReference and it still took that long for him to respond to me so GOOD LUCK.

I've got the same problem. My registration info got screwed up when I downloaded a new version and now I'm on the trial version which will expire soon. I've sent around 3 emails now and only had one reply asking for more info. I replied to it last Sunday and have heard nothing since. Perhaps Don is on vacation or something?

I'm here a lot
I checked his member profile and noticed this : Last Activity: 12-02-2005 09:33 AM Offline

Looks like his time is at a premium and he can only check in when able. Give him the benefit of doubt
for now.

don?

I am having the same sort of problem. I sent an e-mail because I need to format my hard drive and need a product key. If I can't get one re-issued(it's been over a year) I wish he'd let me know. I just don't want to go without it for longer than necessary.

I wasn't going to say this but I can't resist.

Don't you people back up important things like that on a Removeable USB flash drive or floppy or something All my Win xxx and Scanner stuff is saved to a USB FLASH DRIVE . Including emails with confimation numbers. ;)

Folks, be patient... I can sympathize with anyone on time. My wife is pregnant with our 2nd, it's the 4 Quarter at IBM, and my daughter is now 20 months old - which means she's a raging monster. If only there was more beer in the world....

I'm starting to feel sorry for Don. If there's this many people on this board losing their password- he must get a 100 emails a day!

I think most of us are willing to be patient, but no response after four weeks time is unacceptable, especially when you've sent four or five emails requesting assistance.

As of today, I can no longer use it since the thirty day period has passed and I can't get a new license key from Don as of yet. There was nothing I saw on Don's web site that would lead me to believe simply downloading a new version would render me unable to program my scanner. If I had known that, I would never have done it. My bad.

That doesn't appear to be the problem in this case. The problem is that simply downloading a new version of the software has apparently erased any existence of the key. If the new version of the software doesn't recognize the key, what good would it be to have it from an old email or backup?

That is strange, I did a clean install of my computer about a month or so ago and just downloaded the latest version of Win 96, 1.48 then retrieved the key from my Lexar Jump drive and was set to go with no problem.

I am not saying you folks are not havig a problem, I am just as curious as to why, if you have the serial number on file, it isn't working out for you. Hopefully Don will get back to you soon.

I should have pointed out that my fresh download was a trial version also but I put in the key right away and it accepted it just fine.

I don't know why, but it doesn't work. And that is exactly the problem, Don isn't getting back to us (me, and others from what I can tell). That's the problem. I sent him an email and got a reply asking for more information on my email address, which I provided, but then nothing.

I respect all the work Don has done in providing this software to us, but I would have preferred to know in advance if it wasn't going to work with future versions, or if there was something else I needed to do.

I know that this may sound insulting, not meant to be. but you are trying to copy and paste in your old serial number (key) when it asks for it in the trial version are you not?

Don't forget that it has to be pasted in exactly as asked, like the highlighted example

Also my original post (response) was to Jay , as he said that he lost his serial Number. That is why I asked if you all don't save your stuff to a external source for backup.

No insult taken at all, Randy. I just want to get my Win96 working again. I appreciate any help that anyone is able to offer, and yes, I copied and pasted the original key. In my case, the program simply does not recognize the key I entered so I am unable to use the program for the time being.

Does anyone have any idea when Don may be back, or any additional information? I certainly understand that life sometimes presents challanges or problems that must take priority over a stupid (some call it) hobby. I'd just really like to be able to program my scanner again (yea, I know, I could do it the hard way).
