Any of these dealers have RS-type 30-day return policies if you're just not happy with
the performance? And is it subject to the '15% restocking fee' if so?

www.usascan.com has a 61 day policy for returns. However, you will not get the $30 shipping back. That is their "restocking fee" in a way.

996 cable

Thank you for the replies. I have a BC796 now and it is sold, so I will be switching to a BC996. If I understand this correctly, I can use a USB cable, but it does not come with it. I assume that the USB cable will be compatible with the forthcoming BUTEL ARC996.

The 996 comes with only a serial cable, but you can get a USB/Serial adapter cable just about anywhere for just a few bucks (Wally World has 'em for $24.92, but they can be had cheaper). IIRC, I paid around $20 for mine at a parts house here in Houston (ALTEX @ 290/West Rd.).

I will like to point out that "Scanman9" is in Canada, which is why the total is $521. People in US the quote will be lower due to cheaper shipping cost.

"Scanman9" thanks for your purchase.

For USA Buyers does your internet posted price include the shipping?

996t

I just got my 996t on friday. finally it only has taken 4 weeks for delivery from mutual aid supplies. I think the canada customs must have held it until it had cleared.i tryied the uasd progamming software it sucks i was having so much trouble with it. So i bought the arc996t from butel let me say my hat is off to them i had no problems programming it. I really like the feature where you can access the radio reference website from arc996t. I had it programed in a 1/2 hour with uasd i was trying for 4 hours and no go.

Sorry it took so long to get your Scanner. Canada & US Customs check packages at random. I have no control on how long it takes them to clear a package.

$499.99 plus $10 S/H for USA shipments.

$499.99 is our everyday low price yes. You can do a search on the internet we have the lowest price!

We have been talking about raising the price, but as right now it stands.

The software is only $40 I dont see that as a good deal.

I got it next day so to me it was a good deal...Scanner $529 software $40 plus $20 for the Usb...Comes to $589...I saved $30 dollars Ya I could bought it somewhere out in East Overshoe and saved $10 or $20 but they are 10 miles from me and a board supporter..Somestimes saving a few pennies will cost you more in the long run,,

If they are 10 miles away they should be cheaper in shipping, not more. Board supporter, so you pay more? I thought board supporters would pay less....

I dont see your logic, sounds like you got ripped off. But more power to you sir.

Why would you have a problem with a new unit? If it is a warranty issue you send it to Uniden, not the dealer. If paying more makes you feel more comfy because they are down the street, like I said, more power to you. I rather have more for my money.

I guess I should be charging my customers that live in my City $25 higher... nah.

Well someday maybe if you ever come close to the kind of reputation scannermaster has then maybe you can charge more...!!!
