Yes, the BC296D would be your choice for monitoring CT.State Police
and your city police can be entered "normally" on any capable 800mHz
scanner.
Torrington police are on 856.7375.

The BC296D will allow you to monitor both, while the BC80 will
only allow you to monitor the city freq.

You need digital capability in a scanner ,or the State Police
are a no-go. The D is the important part.

Wait and see if another $75 coupon comes out, and buy the Radio Shack Pro 96...it will definitely do a good job on the Connecticut State Police trunking system. I have a BC250D and a Pro 96...lately, the Pro 96 is getting a lot more use when I listen to CSP on the NY side of the border!

if you wait, you might find a bc250d with the digital card for a lot less then they have been going for. uniden has sold out on these radios and the price was alot lower than usual. the bc785d and the bc250d have been discontinued as of about ( ithink ) a month ago to make rom for the new radios coming out. check around you might find a deal.

i went out and bought a pro - 94 so i can listen to my local police. I have had for 3 days now and i enjoy the extra coverage i get with the pro -94.
Listening to the state police would of been nice but I am enjoying listen in on the torrington police dept.

Thanks for the help!!
