The Diamond D220R looks to be a bit smaller for portability.
I wonder how long it will be before someone tests the Whistler models?

Undoubtedly a clone or copy, Kev. Wish Whistler would put it's head into designing the right kinds of antennas, not this stuff...Mike

The discones 3 vertical top elements are tuned to 115Mhz, 250MHz and 340Mhz and the one with a coil are a coliniar 850Mhz antenna.

You don't think those 3 vertical top elements would work well togeather would you?

There shouldn't be any, unless your monitoring above 900MHz possibly. How did you determine there was any loss?
Same model radios with the same codeplug, one on the Diamond discone, the other one on a window-mounted ducky (some Diamond model, see pic). Distinct reception losses on test freqs around 855mhz as well as 406mhz...Not enough to matter in the long run or for a hobbyist, but when you're 8 floors up in a bolthole trying to ascertain what frequency a wireless doorbell 3 blocks away uses, every bit counts.

Compared to the Diamond, this new Whistler antenna is a

* Breakthrough digital-ready design!

* Patented SPC (Simulcast Phasing Coil) !

* Flexible "duck-tune" elements ensures maximum reception of handheld radios using similar antennas!

* Able to receive all AM brodcast frequencies!

* Elegant design fits neatly into all modern living spaces !

* Passive design maximizes intermod / overload rejection, a common problems with powered amplifiers.

* Trunking tips - aside from providing eye protection, all elements have our unique "trunking tips", made of special polymers to enhance trunk-tracking.

I mean, how can I go wrong here?

As people have noticed, several posts that were non-contributory to the thread have been removed.

If you've got something to on-topic to say about these antennas, please do so. Otherwise, you can keep your conspiracy theories and your veiled attempts at profanity to yourselves.

Thanks.

I was looking into this one Mobile/Desktop Scanner Antenna - Multi Band wonder how well it will work for lots interference in my complex? I don't see any info on the link on if you can use it on your car when traveling.

Does mention Mobile/Desktop Scanner Antenna, so I do not see why one could not use the antenna for mobile.

I like to use one in the attic, but living in a duplex with a cinder block wall separating the two residence, I suspect radio signals from my west are harder to receive. Maybe someone can help me with my question.

Thanks. I figured as much. I know this one is off topic I do have this antenna You are being redirected... I do have to move the antenna around for certain freqs. I'm going to wait to see if anyone does reviews on the new WS antenna just came out. I can't have nothing outside not even a tv antenna.

The Whistler Desktop Scanner Antenna - Multi Band w/Discone and Whistler Mobile/Desktop Scanner Antenna - Multi Band both with magnet mount. Is there a minimum size metal plate I would need for the antennas to work.

The discone part of the antenna seems to be designed for 200Mhz and upwards. So I don't know why there are vertical elements for UHF Mil air. The 850Mhz have more gain than the discone so that might help and the longest element for 115Mhz will enhance VHF air. Try to compare performance with the verticals in place but remove at least the two middle ones and see what it does to the signal strenght. Antenna elements need to be seperated by something like a whole wavelenght to not interact with each other. So these will interact like crazy. Something that could be intentional or it's just an estetic thing to attract buyers as it looks technically advanced.

You forgot "Receives fully encrypted signals from all agencies".

We added the antennas because we have had a lot of requests from customers to add some external antennas to our website offerings. Not all antennas are created equal even thought they may look similar. Our engineers have spent a lot of time testing antennas so bring you what they feel are the best ones.
