I've just tried to install the TRX-1E software from the official Whistler website and my PC flags up that a virus has been detected in it.
My normal download folder. This isn't the first time I've downloaded something from an official website where the program has contained a virus.Doubtful, but I guess it is possible. What specific download location did you use?

Why in the world would it matter or would I ask where you downloaded it to on your pc? I wanted to verify you used the correct source to download from. But more than likely it’s your AV software throwing a false positive. My normal download folder. This isn't the first time I've downloaded something from an official website where the program has contained a virus.
I had to get rid of my McAfee antivirus software. It gave false positives and wouldn't allow me to run several scanner software programs.I've just tried to install the TRX-1E software from the official Whistler website and my PC flags up that a virus has been detected in it.
Yeah, I’m out.Obviously you didn't read that I said I downloaded from the official website.Mentioning where I downloaded it to was the only other possible answer considering the information I had given?
