Having botched multiple SD card adjustments, as well as other "internal" functions, due to very limited computer skills, can someone recommend a person or location to "lower the thresholds" to maximize my radio's sensativity, and recieving capability. One spare SD card which I loaded in to my laptop, showed "FATAL ERROR"upon re-inserting it into my PSR-800, and I am "clueless" as to how to repair, or reload the SD card, following this venture into scanner/computerland. Thanks to all, who will "help grandpa" ie:Me, get back a functioning reciever.

Do you have a working copy of your PSR800 configuration ?

Btw .. there is no such thing as 'maximize my radio's sensativity, and recieving capability'.

Your PSR800 is already extremely sensitive compared to just about anything out there .. there is nothing to change.

Right now .. I would concentrate on getting it working as it appears that it not the case now.

If you have all your data in your EzScan software .. do the following.

From the EZScan software .. (I would recommend using a USB card reader or SD card slot in a computer if you have one)

Select from the Scanner/SD Card menu ..
1. Prepare Scanner Memory / SD card for use. Press format .. and enter on the 'black MS-DOS screen'.
2. Copy Configuration to Scanner Memory / SD Card

Put the card into your scanner .. it should work fine after those 2 steps.

However .. the big ?, did this SD Card that you are having troubles with EVER work in your scanner ? Some cards will simply not work and will give you an error.

I am well aware of your medical issues .. maybe you can find someone in your area to help you if you cannot do it.

THANK YOU, so there is no adjustment to bring in "weak trunking systems?"

No .. in testing the PSR800 below (see link below), it is one of the most sensitive radios out there when it comes to scanners.

The real only available option is to play with what antenna you use .. but unless you know what you are doing, you can actually make things worse rather than better. So you have to be careful.

Just so that it makes sense to you .. 0.25 uV is more sensitive than 0.35 uV. The lower the number .. the more sensitive the radio is.

In regards to your PSR800 .. post here again if you have further problems.

Parts of New Jersey have strong RF fields, so you may be experiencing overloading, not low sensitivity. After you get it working turn on the attenuator if it has one.
