Don't laugh! I picked up one of those Scannoculars for thirty bucks, including S&H from Heartland America. While there is no way I would have paid the suggested retail price or the e-bay asking price, I feel that the thirty bucks was well spent for an extra 100 channels with alpha tags. The only thing I don't like about it is that there is no way to lock out channels. When I want to listen without earphones, I just plug in a set of computer spreakers.
I haven't had the opportunity yet, but I plan to use my scannocular as a supplement to my two hand helds at air shows. I have all the USN Blue Angels & USAF Thunderbirds ground freqs loaded as well as some more common air show freqs, all with alpha tags. The scanner picks up broadcast FM & UHF TV as well. I've replaced the supplied neck strap with one for a heavy camera.
The binoculars are fair, but are awkward to use.
The real laugh is the pricies on these things. Are people really buying them for a hundred dollars and over?
