Why is alcohol called OTH to EMT's?

Not sure about OTH, but ETOH usually = Ethyl Alcohol

If you google OTH you get the TV show One Tree Hill :D

heh,I hear lots of times on the local police frequency "subject is extremely ETOH" ,meaning that person is drunker than a skunk,been hearing stuff like that for years :p

it also is better to say than "this guy's drunk so you might want to ready when we get to your ER". the drunk probably doesn't know what the medics are saying when they say that so they don't get upset with them.

Reminds me of a regular "customer" who when asked by the county EMS unit what his name was "David xxxxx but you guys always call me ETOH, whatever the #@%& that means"


That was a cue for me to go outside and laugh for ten minutes :lol:
