• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I'm sorry for my pool English...

Is there any options could turn the function on or off in the RSS?
I'm using MTSX 6.07 and LABtool 2.0.1

My friend's MTS2000 could display my ID and all others' ID when we are in same TALKGROUP, but mine is not.

My MTS2000's FW version is R01.15, and his is R06.40, is that matter?

*** My questions are: ***
1. If it is mine FW version is too old to display IDs, How could I upgrade it and let it display IDs like his one?

2. Is there any other method to let my MTS2000 display IDs normally?

thank you!

It might not be flashed for it. In other words it does not have that option installed. You have to buy it.

Your MTS has pretty old firmware as you can tell. It's either not flashed for analog trunking id display or the firmware is too old to support it.

You should talk to the local Motorola dealer about getting your radio flashed to support trunking id display.

The ID display should work at your rev. It came in about 5.53 or so..

Make sure you have it enabled

Radio Config
Display and Menu
Advanced Tab
Set the caller ID to Alias Text (if you have a call list) or ID only

If trunking ID display came in at 5.53, then how would his radio with v1.15 work?

I have heard that sometimes when radios go back to the repair depot they will refresh the firmware, which seems to be what happened in this case.

Thank you!

I just contacted with my local support center and asked for upgrade.
they told me that is a Pay-operation, it will take me 700RMB a radio. Is that right?

and 1. what about LTS2000? does it have the " ID display" function?
2. are all the MTX960 have the "ID display" function or it must have higher version of firmware?
3. some friends told me that the Labtool is only owned by Motorola support center, and my copy is pirate, but mine is given by Motorola when my company setup the smartnet, and is there really some wrong with my copy of the Labtool?

thank you again!

I'm not sure what currency RMB is but it generally takes anywhere from a couple of hundred US for a refresh of the radio (firmware upgrade) to a thousand dollars to add features like Smartzone.

I'm not familiar with the LTS2000 or MTX960.

Labtool is owned by Motorola and I've never heard of them giving it out. Seems kind of strange that your company would have a copy.

Keep in mind you must be very careful with labtools. You can easily brick a radio with it.

Reference #1) No, the LTS 2000 does not have the id display feature.

Reference #2) I am also unfamiliar with the MTX 960, so I don't know.

Reference #3) Not sure - check your software license and see. If you don't have a sofware license agreement for that piece/level of software, I would be weary.

Two companies that produce wide-band scanning receivers are Uniden and GRE. Both are japanese companies. Both do some product development in America to meet consumer demands for the USA.

You might be able to order a new radio by mail. The cost of shipping to Beijing would be high. If you have a friend traveling to/from the USA, it would be easy for them to pick something up and bring it back to you.

For cost, here are some websites with that information ...

RadioShack is USA based retailer - their radios are made by GRE and Uniden
