Thank you, that is easy to understand. Choosing a scanner that will work here is more difficult than I thought! Especially an entry level one that has limited features. I will pick up the BC125AT or SC230 this week on eBay. Thanks for all the help.
My pleasure
. Please don't hesitate to send me a PM if you have more questions. I'll be glad to help! I've been in Moncton for a year but I've been scanning since 2006 in Ontario. Personnally, since I'm in the hobby, I only change the step a couple of time to verry few frequencies and it's not something that I look at when buying a scanner.
Do you know that Moncton Fire is on a Motorola Type 2 800MHz system? Hence if you want to monitor them, you would need a trunktraker analog scanner. However, Riverview and Dieppe Fire are on conventionnal. They have talkgroups on the Motorola system but they are never used (don't know why they're even there!)
Also,
www.scanmaritimes.com would be a site of interest for you. Pretty much like RadioReference,it has frequencies and system information but for only the maritime provinces (NB, PEI and NS). If you haven't done so, you could join the facebook group called « Newschasser » (the one that has over 20 000 members). It's a group that talks about up to the minute news. They also have a files section. In that section, you'll find relevant information for scanner hobbiest in NB but especially in the Greater Moncton Area (like 10 codes, zone numbers, unit ID...).
Cheers
