appears they are FM. No comments about encryption.

I believe mobile scanning is illegal in Florida. Unsure as to ham exemptions or if a scanner permit is obtainable for the average citizen.

o.k. i have a good question. how many scannist's in the u.s. have actually had any fire radio system's they listen to go encrypted ?. if you don't mind,also post what system's they are.

I live in Ocean County and have never heard of the county having an inter op system. Maybe you could elaborate a little; type of system, VHF, UHF, 800 MHz, anything else you know about it.

No I don't think encryption will ever "kill" the scanning hobby. Encryption is expensive. Agencies that can afford it and think they need it will implement it. Even a voice inversion board that provides privacy, but no security will run a department apprx. $80-179 per board! The bigger threat to scanning is the proliferation of proprietary digital voice formats such as Opensky and the new Motorola MotoTRBO digital TDMA radios that they are hawking to business users,etc. Reportedly Kenwood and ICOM are working on launching there own digital radios based on TDMA technology. I believe TDMA is like the GSM cell phone system technology.

It's on 506.6375 with transmitters in Toms River, Barnegat, Tuckerton, New Egypt and Lakewood. While checking out locations in the FCC database I found a whole slew of frequencies I didn't know about, something to check out.
