I see a problem with "Opek HVT-600" and "High Performance" being used in the same sentence. Who else besides Opek says its high performance? I've also never seen an adapter to go from 3/8-24 to SO-239.
If a loaded whip with tap points and wander lead is what you want, have you looked at the Outback series of HF antennas? I have an Outback Perth which is a very well made antenna and is known to work well for its size. Once the whip length is set for a good match on the voice portion of 40m it has a great match in the voice portion of the other bands, which is a miracle in itself. One whip length and your good for all bands. I think the Perth cost me $75 used.
I also have a tapped coil from Greatlakes Antennas that I occasionally use on top of a 5ft Hustler mast with various length whips. This thing works great and has enough taps to match any freq between 80m and whatever and it works very well. Here is a link to the coil and you can mix and match lower masts and whips or just use it as a base loaded antenna with maybe a 6ft whip on top. A center loaded install will work better.

My main HF mobile antenna is a Tarheel 100HP, which is an extremely good performer, so I have something to compare the other antennas with and can give them my blessing, whatever that's worth. The two antennas I mentioned will probably outperform the Opek without changing your mount.

I plan on installing a Icom 706 or a yaesu Ft-857 and thinking about using a Opek HVT-600 - 10 Band High Performance HF antenna. I have a 3/8 firstik antenna mount on my wife's Jeep and I am wondering will a 3/8 to so-239 adapter work? I have 2 antennas mounted on my wife's Jeep now and she doesn't want another one. We plan on driving to Colorado in December.
Here is some pictures I got online.

I would love to get a tar heel antenna but that's not in the budget at this time maybe in the furture.
Thanks
