If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

My advice is to not upgrade to Windows 11 yet. Not only because there may be issues with the CPS but there may be issues with many other things. I never upgrade anything, especially an operating system for at least six to eight months so that any and all bugs are addressed and fixed.

There are a lot of things that are somewhat buggy and that I don't like about Windows 11, but am not, and have not had a single issue running Astro 25 or APX CPS.

I've upgrade 3 of our computers to Win11, not one problem at all. Various CPS and other 'radio' software packages run just fine.

Enjoying the added security of Win11 now. Have not run into a single bug, tiny learning curve on learning where to find things and what the new icons mean.

You braver than me Mr Bill. I still using Windows XP & 7 here for my radio's. Of course I do not have a platinum APX in my stock pile just antique AS,XTS and XPR.

I have been running Windows 11 since the earliest beta builds, and ASTRO25, TRBO, and APX CPS never had any issues, including programming over bluetooth for the APX radios. At this point, I have no need to run legacy software, so I cannot speak to anything older.

My Windows 11 VM on Mac runs all my Moto CPS, even the old XTS Astro Saber stuff, although I need to use my 32 bit Windows 10 VM to program those 32 bit codeplugs.

Have you tried out RPM2 on Win11?
It’s gonna work fine… just realized an update was just released the other day… FYI in case you where wondering RPM2 requires ONLINE AAC key verification for any changes to trunking settings.. effectively making monitoring a phase II system impossible

I've been advised by our IT director that "...I don’t recommend upgrading existing systems to Windows 11. I’m told little time was invested to make Windows 11 work with existing hardware so drivers for the system devices are an issue." In other words, don't go there.

I'm still using Windows 7 on my laptops and virtual machines for programming; I just had too many issues with Windows 10 wiping out existing radio drivers and replacing them with drivers Micro$oft considered "superior" so I stuck with 7. I'm also not a big fan of Windows 10 phoning home to the mothership all the time, as well as updating everything without my say-so; I wouldn't mind so much if they at least allowed me to review the updates and reject any which could cause a problem (like I can with Windows 7).
