Going back to my recordings from last week, FCSO Jail personnel briefly were using TG 1511 for radio checks. It sounded like some of them stayed on this TG for a while and forgot to switch back to the Type II system because they would ask for something and never get a response. "Master Control" was the ones calling various jail personnel.

Based on some clues gathered from bits of recent traffic, I believe TG 2000-2003 will be the four WSPD Dispatch TGs. Similarly, 1500 and 1501 will likely be the two FCSO dispatch TGs. More radio demos occurring this week and well over 100 TGs logged now. Hopefully the switch is in the near future!

All TGs on the system appeared to be nicely laid out in blocks which will be helpful for identifying users. For instance, thus far: the 1000 block is EMS-to-Hospital; The 1200 block will likely be FCFD; The 1500 block is assigned to FCSO; The 2000 block is WSPD; TGs 2400 and above seem to be services and public works.

I concur, based on what I've listened to from recordings. It also looks like all public safety RIDs will in the 67XXXX series, to match their RID on VIPER. From what I've heard, there will be no patching of the old and new systems, the old Type II will go offline and the P25 system will become live.

I had not put that together, but you are indeed correct about the parallels to VIPER. The Guilford County units I have heard on the system all have 81xxxx RIDs which match their VIPER RIDs.

Wow! You've got the whole fleetmap! That's hard to come by.
Now that we know what's out there, we just have to find the talkgroup IDs for each. (the hunt begins...)

It looks like Winston-Salem city services are slowly migrating over to the new radio system. TGs 2703-2705 are city sanitation or brush/bulk item pickup. No clue on the official names of these talkgroups. Here are a few unknowns:

TG 1500- "233, radio check" Likely FCSO
TG 2457- ??? key up only
TG 2702-"563 to Darren"
TG 2759- ???
TG 2853-"8507 to 8588" WS Streets?

Also, I've yet to hear an official date on when public safety will make the switch over or what the holdup is.

I heard that they are having some issues with radio programming and tuning so the switch has been delayed again.

1500 will likely be FCSO Dispatch when the switch happens. I have been hearing a number of FCSO units on that TG that probably grabbed the wrong radio.

Did a bit more listening to my recordings. Here is what I have nailed down in terms of the new TGs popping up (will make a submission soon):
  • 1061 -- EMS to Clemmons Medical Center
  • 2703 -- Sanitation: Bulky Item Pickup
  • 2704 -- Sanitation: Garbage Collection
  • 2705 -- Sanitation: Garbage Collection
  • 2950 -- Forsyth County Government Buildings: Security
  • 2952 -- Forsyth County Government Buildings: Custodial
2759 was discussing damage to a road. Might be Winston-Salem Streets or DOT. Similar traffic noted on a few other 275x TGs. TG 2853 was mentioning flagging and removing a tree from a roadway. Again, probably streets or DOT as @NCFireman11 mentioned.

Not exactly the most thrilling things to listen to, but new users are slowly but surely being migrated over. There was a good bit of activity on the radio tech TGs today.

As of about 6 AM this morning, public safety has started switching over to the new system!

TG 1500 is FCSO Ch. 1 (Dispatch) as expected, and TG 1501 is Ch. 2 (Dispatch 2). They are using Ch. 1 for radio checks and Ch. 2 for primary dispatch traffic today. TG 1504 is being referred to as Ch. 3, and 1505 is Ch. 4. TG 1510 is Courtrooms, 1511 is Jail 1, and 1512 should be Jail 2. Sounding great on my end!

I will put in a submission to the DB with this information. My submission from last week is still sitting in the queue.

Ch. 3 was called PAT for patrol I believe. I was hoping someone else heard that SO made the switch!

This morning I noticed the same thing. Just read your post and the next one by NCFireman11. After lunch I will be playing the recordings to try to catch “official” ID for any channels I can, or at least semi-official usages.

TG 1501 T Dispatch 2 (Ch. 2) Law Dispatch
TG 1504 T Ch. 3 Law Talk
TG 1505 T Ch. 4 Law Talk
TG 1510 T Courtrooms Law Talk
TG 1511 T Detention Center 1 Corrections
TG 1512 T Detention Center 2 Corrections
TG 1521 T Emergency Button (Help Ch.) Law Talk

I'm hearing EMS units going out of service to station 8 for "radio maintenance" on the Type II system. Sounds like they are getting ready to switch over as well.

Also, FCSO TAC 3 on the type II system is still being used by the FCSO drone team in Clemmons as of 11AM.

There are already a lot of OTA radio alias decoded for FCSO.

Great to hear! The OTA aliases will likely aid in identifying talkgroup users. I now live out-of-state most of the year, but I left a Raspberry Pi in Forsyth County that is running a Broadcastify Calls node for the new WS/FC system, allowing me to keep tabs on it. Feel free to listen in here: Talkgroups Seen on System: Winston-Salem / Forsyth County (P25). Unfortunately, Trunk-recorder only reports the RID and not the alias, so I am unable to see that information myself.

On another note, looking through my logs there has been a lot of encrypted traffic on TG 2029-2031 recently. This likely falls in the Winston-Salem PD block.
