WIre Antenna

I just bought a Wire antenna from Scanner Master. I figured at 10 bucks why not? Does anyone have any idea how this antenna works?

Any electrical conductor will receive radio signals. It will work better inside a car than the original antenna sitting on the scanner will. It won't work as well as an external antenna.
