How are the Wisconsin members from the southwestern quarter of the state doing with the significant weather issues over the past 10 days?

Please recap how you are taking care of things and how various agencies are coping.

Thanks.

I can't say how bad it is down there from personal experience, but there are some ARES/RACES activations in four counties: Racine, Kenosha, Vernon and Crawford.

Hi,
I just registered. :)

I had an old 10 channel programable "Regency M100" scanner, it no longer works, so I just ordered a new Uniden BCD396T. When it gets here (with software for programming), I will be busy learning the new toy :)

Looks like a great site here! Lots of info and knowledge.

I live in Racine, the river nearby is flowing full and fast, but no problem for us. I think we had about 8 inches of rain this week.

Advanced Class Amateur Radio, AEC Marathon Co. ARES., GROL
Admin for http://www.inflow-wi.org

Radio equipment in the shack:
Icom IC-706
Yeasu FT 890AT
Yeasu FT 8000 - dual band
Kenwood 733A - dual band
Radio Shack Pro 2055 scanner
Radio Shack Pro 51

Radio equipment in the vehicle:

Yeasu FT 8900 quad band
Kenwood TMV7A dual band
Icom 2800 dual band
IC T2H HT

I've enjoyed scanning for about 25 years, and have been a storm spotter for 23 years.

I love the public service aspect of amateur radio. Since I was a young boy, I've always been fasinated with the weather, so it just seemed natural to need radio's and scanners.

I primarily monitor Marathon, Portage and Wood Counties, but my job with the CN railroad takes me all over WI, MI and MN, so I monitor everywhere I go.

Roll Call

John Nordquist, Kenosha County, WI..
I run an online news and public forum site (http://www.dailykenoshan.com) and offer the local Kenosha Frequencies for our users and others to hear. It has resulted in a few news stories that would never have come to print. I have a simple BC296D connected to a 2003 Server running Microsoft Media Recorder for a live stream.

So new to this I have no idea what I am doing an doften get complaints that no one can understand the dispatcher while the car to car is crystal clear...

Welcome to the site, and to the WI forum. I snooped around your website a bit, and wanted to let you know that at the time of the crash on I94 at 165 the driver of the striking vehicle was having a medical issue. Although WSP was trying to stop the vehicle prior to the crash, the driver was failing to yield because of the medical condition, not because they were trying to flee/elude.

Thanks Stateboy!

I am adding your comment to the story about the crash... I',m sure the automatic assumption was otherwise by readers, incl. myself.

No problem...figured I'd let you know in case you wanted to change it. It was also a female driver in the Benz. Anywho, the information is public record but there was no "official" press release so most places thought it was a pursuit.
