• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I’m sure you are aware, but if not, the G90 makes for an excellent shortwave receiver. Hold FUNC down then navigate through the menus and change band stack mode from “ham bands” to “all bands”. (y)
That's exactly why I got it. I keep one VFO on LSB and one on AM for broadcasts. Does surprisingly well even on the AM BCB stations while on the mobile antenna.

And out of all the radios that I've bought since December, it's by far my favorite and most-used.

Hah! Same here. I’ve had mine for maybe 6 months now, but it made me want to sell 90% of my export/cb radios. With the extra money from those sales i may just pick up another. It’s now my base station in the house. I like it so much that i put my FT-710 back in the box and shelved it.

It's pretty dang slick for the price. On a few good mornings I've worked Italy and Ireland on it. For stateside stuff, it's great, just have to get away from the blowtorches.

Yeah. It has a few quirks, but the antenna analyzer and tuner built in are worth the price alone. The TX audio on these is outstanding as well. I get so many compliments on my audio it’s crazy. Then people can’t believe it’s a 20 watt QRP radio with a stock mic when they ask what i’m running.

I’ve heard a few on air, and they all sound excellent.

It really does have great audio, and a nice, clean, and focused RF output. I hear the same surprised comments as well. I like the filter as well. Quick and easy to adjust and clean up the signal. The quirks aren't too bad, not enough to cause much frustration, and doing what I want it to do very well makes them easier to overlook.

And now that i think about it, I've never used the transmit compander. Do you have any experience with it? I went ahead and clicked it on; I doubt it'll do anything negative to the signal.
