To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.
If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

The low tier Chinese radios sometimes have failures direct from the factory. If you rule out the other issues, send it back and spin the wheel of quality control once again.

These radios fall into the category of "CCR". Cheap Chinese Radios.
I'm not sure how Wouxun compares with the other CCR's, but compared to a quality commercial radio, or even a quality amateur radio, the are going to be less than stellar performers.
Quality control seems to be hit or miss.
Some seem to work fine, some seem to not. Problem is, they cannot be adjusted if there is an issue. Generally you throw them in the trash if they don't work right and spin the wheel of quality control again and hope you get a good one.
Usually the radios have poor filtering, so they may work OK in low noise environments, but won't handle high noise environments very well.
I know some will claim they are good radios, but experience has proven otherwise. There's just too many issues with quality control and lack of serviceability.
If you've ruled out the antenna and programming is correct, and you are not in a high noise environment, then you could chalk this one up to QC issues.

They may be the highest quality of the CCR’s, but that’s not saying much. I was given one that came from the estate of a SK. The guy who gave it to me got it for free, & after playing with it for five minutes I’ve decided to sell it at the upcoming Orlando Ham Fest for $20 including a liter plug charger, & shoulder mike. And it sounds fine on the weather freq. but my ancient Icom W-2, W-32, & T-90 work 1000 times better, & don’t cause me to rip my hair out while programming from the keypad. These CCR’s are a nightmare to program.
Most likely a bandwidth issue. I owned a Wouxun and it worked fine on the NOAA WX channels. Confirm that the bandwidth is programmed as 25 kHz (wide), not 12.5 kHz (narrow).

I have tried a Baofeng and a Wouxon. Two of the worst radios I have ever had. Weird operation and programming plus various performance issues. The Wouxon drains the battery within 2 days turned off! I primarily stick with Yaesu but have had great luck with Kenwood and Alinco. I just prefer how the Yaesu operate. Icom for me have had receiver IMD and desense issues.
