Hi:

I have a 1080, and having troubles. I programmed it and went menu. Set it to scan and it said and it said nothing to scan. What do I do to scan? When I got the radio I entered my zip code. Then programmed it. Then I deleted the location part. Did that have anything to do with it?
Thanks

Go to scanlists and check one of the boxes that you programmed by hitting the SEL button. Then go back and select scan.

Scan sets are essentially .. a combination of typically multiple scan lists.

I like scan sets as they make it easy to make combinations of different things, like EMS + Fire or Dispatch Only or Only Law Enforcement.

Really .. you pretty much can make a wide variety of selections.

I do agree with the above .. you probably have nothing selected, thus your 'Nothing to Scan' message.

I'm not sure if the following is your problem or not, but since your title mentions Scan Sets it may be.

If you're programming Scan Sets you may need to make sure all your Scan List are enabled or else the Scan Set can not enable them and you'll get the message about nothing to scan. On the "Advanced Features" tab in EZ Scan in the section on "Scan Sets" there is a setting for "Scan Set Mode." By default this is set to "Scan Sets Require Scan Lists to be enabled." Technically you don't need to enable every scan list, just the ones that are part of a Scan Set. It's just easier to set them all since there is a button that will enable them all. Otherwise you have to enable them one at a time.

It's me again

Hi:

I have all the scan set in blank and all the boxes are not checked. I have 3 scan lists checked and it still says nothing to scan.
Is there a setting that has to be checked or unchecked?
Thanks,

WS1080 scan lists vs Sets

Sounds like you didn't create a V-scanner folder and didn't SAVE your completed form to whatever you named the V-scanner. Mine is named "Cook" after the county I'm in. That's when you upload to the scanner. When I first got my WS1080 I had the same thing "nothing to scan" show up meaning the data never made it to the scanner from the FORM. I started over and made sure to save the EZScan form with all frequencies to my V-scanner. Every change or update should be saved to the V-scanner then uploaded to the scanner. A form will pop up showing the V-scanner file and you just hit copy files* it then shows your WS1080 in the usb slot hooked up to the scanner and you upload.

I never mess with the scan SETS since there's so much room on each LIST anyway.

1.name your v-scanner
2.copy your EZScan form TO that V-scanner folder
3.Upload to scanner.
4.Optimize Scanner memory/SD card if you like. I do, it arranges things in best order.

If you're not using Scan Sets then you need to enable Scan Set 1 (the default scan set). If you don't enable it then any and all of your Scan Lists will present the "nothing to scan" message. See this image...

When I first started learning how to program Scan Sets it took me the longest time to figure this out.

Hope this helps you.

Edit: To add clarification

To clarify what the paragraph in the image above is saying, An object will not be scanned unless it is both in an enabled Scan List and an enabled Scan Set. This is because of the default Scan Set Mode of "Scan Sets Require Scan List to be enabled".

This is why the default Scan Set needs to be enabled and include all Scan Lists.
