I have a Whistler WS-1098. I use external computer speakers plugged into the base unit.
I know that it is not stereo. Here is my problem. Both my speakers use to play now the one on the right side will not play anymore. For some reason it quit playing. The one on the left plays fine. When I unplug the speakers from the base unit the speaker inside the base unit plays fine I thought maybe I had a problem with my sd card so I put a new one in. Still does not work. I know it is not a speaker problem because they work fine with my computer and if I plug them into my GRE 800 scanner they both play Can anybody help me?
Thanks

While receiving a signal or with the squelch fully counter-clockwise, try unplugging the plug from the scanner just a hair and see if both speakers work. If not, plug it back in and slowly remove it while listening to see what happens. You mention it was working so I don't know if an adapter is even an issue. It sounds like one of the "rings" on the plug is no longer making contact inside the scanner.

Yes when I unplug the jack about half way the right speaker will start to play

All Whistler radios beginning with the 1080 are stereo headphone jacks. Not sure about rear external jack. The GRE PSR-800 is monoral. See page 9 of 1098 Manual.

Thanks for letting me know the adapter fixed your problem.

Good luck!
