I've had the WS1080 scanner for a little over a month and for the most part it's been great but I do have 2 issues I'm experiencing:

1) When the battery runs low the scanner just 'dies', now warning beeps, no writing to SD card, nothing. Is this behavior expected? I am using

2) When I launch EZ-scan it wants to update every single time even though I have the 'check for update' option set to every 7 days.

My WS1080 has all the latest firmware and library updates.
When you make changes such as alpha tags or other items, it saves these changes to the card before it resumes scanning. It reads from the card on startup. I was thinking that when it dies it probably isn't writing anything to the card anyway. The only thing I'm thinking it could be writing is recorded audio.

I know on the uniden radios when batteries get low it stops recording. Don't know if the 1080 does the same or not. I have an 800 and I don't even know if it stops. Never had any card problems though and I do use the recording function.

The 800 has a setting to change the amount of time for low battery warning.
Having said that I have never changed it from 30 minutes setting. Depending on the batteries used I get abiut 10 minutes to an hour of warning. The batteries make the difference.
