If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,
I programmed a recently acquired XPR 3500 a few months ago with CPS Version 2 and all was well except random powering off. Today, having some free time, I checked the firmware and downloaded the 2018 version of MOTOTRBO (current firmware is R02.06.05.0002) and no issues. I also programmed an analog zone and received my wideband entitlement key in hopes to use both the analog and DMR zones.

I tried inputting the key and I am getting an error regarding not communicating with the server. From my research I found that in order to use the wideband entitlement, I will need to use the most recent version of CPS.

How do I upgrade the radio’s firmware to the most recent version? Also, how do I find it on the Motorola website?

Thanks in advance

You need to log on to Motorola MyView and then go to connect.motorolasolutions.com to get logged into the server they will send you and Email to your account you registered under for a passcode to use it

Ok, I verified my connection and also disabled windows defender-no dice. I keep getting the error.

Downloaded CPS 2.0 and same story, going to give it until Tuesday, retry, and if nothing contact support.

On another note, it appears that the powering off issue is related to the power switch/volume control. Tomorrow I’m going to open the case and see if a good cleaning is in order.

Look at the solder joints for the on/off/vol switch and check for play in the switch shaft. Most likely you will have to have the on/off/vol switch replaced. Contact cleaner will not fix this problem. I had to change a lot of those switches on XPR 6000,7000,3000 series HT's as well as CP 200/200ds MTS 2000 HT1000s and XTS Series HTs because they were worn out by heavy handed users.

Will do, figured it may need replaced.

Tried again this morning and the wideband entitlement key worked. I was able to reprogram the radio and all is well now. Thanks everyone for your help.

Just to add, I did have to reauthenticate my connection and disable windows defender in case some one else runs into this issue. I was not able to ping the Motorola site with windows defender on, even when I added the software to the trusted list. This was not the issue with the key though, I simply needed to wait overnight when I guess Motorola’s system updated showing that I ordered the key.
