• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

TY sir!

Is it inappropriate to ask for firmware in these forums? I can't seem to find it under support services in my customer hub.... I'm subscribed to everything Mototrbo...

That was the oldest I could find there also. I have a 5580 with 2.50.XXX on it or something which from what I've read is older and apparently the upgrade path needs to happen in a specific order coming from something that old. I am not sure I understand Motorola's naming convention for firmware.

Ok...this radio is 2.07....and its not showing me the cap max option as being available for purchase. I was told that I needed to update the firmware on the radio so the radio will then support capacity Max. I have an entitlement ID right here.....mot has this software update plan or something but you have to subscribe to in order to update your firmware past a certain point.... I just need to get this radio to the point where I can install capacity Max

Apparently yu can take a trbo radio to 2.10.09.001 without the software license.

However, I still don't see Cap Max as an availabe for purchase option. Geez....does anyone know how high I gotta go to get cap max? I got RM...I got the entitlement id for the feature.....I got a dollar waitin on a dime her..

So am I. I googled it and you get different answers depending on what site you visit but my radio is definitely a non-e model. It has a legit entitlement and is operating on a multi-site Cap Max system.

I've got an XPR5550 which will be added to the system at some point so we'll see how that goes.

You need to go to 2.10 issued in 2019. This is the conversation release, after 2.10 you have to have a SUM entitlement. Then you can update to the latest M2025.03. Since you need to be able to affiliate with the Cap Max trunking Controller, this is something that you need to be working with your system admin to accomplish.

Of course not, there was no such thing as Cap Max at that time.

And where do you find 2.10? I've been all over Motorola's site and cannot find 2.10. I found the stuff from 2025 but I cannot find 2.10 there for anything.
