• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

My XPR5550e is not being recognized by my PC. My portables read/write fine but my mobile read/write once, then after the power cycled the laptop wouldn't recognize it.

I have reinstalled drivers, checked my device manager settings and firewalls settings but no change.

Error Code: 1687

TIA!

What kind of cable are you using? Is it a front or rear programming cable?

The fact that is actually wrote once makes me rule out your cable. Uninstall and reinstall CPS as an Administrator. You can also try upgrading the driver and pointing to C:\Program Files (x86)\Motorola\MOTOTRBO Drivers\RNDIS.

Reboot the computer? I've had connection issues randomly pop up that a reboot resolved.

One thing I can note, the cable is seen by the radio, but not by the laptop I use for programming or my personal laptop.

Have you tried swapping USB ports? Try a USB3.0 port and a USB2.0 port.

Also, under device manager, are there any unidentified devices?

Are you plugged into the network via cat5/6? Try unplugging it and see if that fixes it.

Have you tried a recover on the radio? Off chance the radio got corrupted on the last program.

I've never had a problem with the bluemax49er cables, but there is a chance the cable went bad. Open a support ticket with him directly, he was always quick to respond.

1). I've had luck "force writing" that code one time. Just kept hitting write until it finally took about the 10th time.
2). Can you read the radio ?
3). May want to try writing a new "blank" codeplug

1) No luck here
2) Yes
3) Worked with no issue.
I guess that's my only hope is to just build another one from scratch. Which is what I was hoping to avoid doing.

I occasionally have that issue with my 7550e. Usually while it’s plugged in I have to go to device manger and uninstall device. Then unplug from computer then unplug radio and finally turn radio off. Then plug into computer then plug radio in. Then turn radio back on it it works fine.
