XPR7550 Programming Guidance

What would be the cheapest route to get a few XPR 7550 radios programmed?
I’ve heard from a few people that you can get the CPS after taking a course from Motorola.
If this is indeed the case, would it be cheaper for me to go through those channels to obtain the CPS for myself in the end or just going through a dealer to have it done? We have all necessary licenses from the FCC for use of assigned channels and whatnot and I’ve programmed a handful of radios in the past so obtaining the CPS for myself shouldn’t be an issue in regards to know how’s..

You do not need to take any course to get the CPS. It is around $170 for a 3 year subscription.

Programming the radios is not terribly difficult, assuming it is not some trunking system or such, so really, it comes down to how many changes you might make. If the radios are only going to be programmed once and never changed, it might be cheaper to have the dealer do it one-off (likely an hour or so of bench time). But if you plan on making changes, adding more radios, etc., those costs will add up very quickly, and it would make sense to purchase the CPS and do it yourself.

You do need to take a course if you intend on being able to program wide band channels, & want the wide band EID.
