Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello, I recently purchased a XTL-1500 of of eBay the guy said the radio where fully tested I believe him based on him willing to give me a refund for them not turning on. Anyways I got the radio and I bought a pretty decent power supply for it called the PYRAMID PS9KX. The problem is when I go to turn the radio on I wait for like 2 seconds then the LED's flash on for like 5 seconds then they turn off and nothing happens on the screen it doesn't even flash or anything. Wondering if this has happened to anyone else and wondering if its worth keeping because its an easy fix or If I should send it back. I'm really looking to use this radio I'm hoping there is an easy fix.

Thanks!

Do you have power to the little red wire on the accessory connector?

Also,
That power supply is rated for 5 amps continuous/7 amps surge. That's only going to run that radio on low power transmit.

If the radio is programmed for a trunked system and it tries to connect, it's probably going to drag down the power supply to the point that the radio will restart.

I’m not planning on using a trucked system I was just gonna run it on FRS frequencies?

First off, is this a front mount radio or remote mount. Powering these is different.
ALSO, your supply should at least turn the radio on, but probably shut down trying to transmit.
I would go with a supply greater than 20 amp.
N3obl is talking about the ignition sense wire. Located on the ACCY cable.

This is a front mount radio I was only gonna use it for FRS and I just bought the power supply of Amazon. The ignition sense wire is good?

Make sure your ignition sense wire has power, and make sure your 25 pin connector is inserted properly. The connector has a short to 2 pins which would make the radio not power without it. But if the LEDs come on for a few seconds after turning the radio on then it sounds like it might be inhibited
