• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Because the OP has 2 problems. The mike not being lit, & the speaker taking forever to get to him. Seems like that’s the bigger problem because he can’t use the radio until the speaker arrives, but the mike works fine even if the buttons aren’t lit. Unfortunately, we can’t help him with the delivery of his speaker.
So going off on a tangent about how his package was late and damaged helps the OP how?

The mic not lit might be the fact the model number is for the trbo and not xtl mic. If there an ok in center button then it’s for the trbo and not compatible.

You win the internet today. That's exactly it. By chance, would you happen to know the proper part number of the mic I need?

I am not pretending to be some kind of Motorola expert, in fact, quite the opposite. I am learning this as I go, and, in keeping with the amateur service, trying my best to become a better trained radio operator. For a little while, I worked p25 xmode with a fusion radio. Although the chipset is great, the actual quality of the radio itself doesn't begin to even approach the Motorola in quality. And although they keep telling us that our radio skills are for disasters, our radios themselves are not anywhere near disaster quality radios.

The real issue is fpp. So far, the best radio I am seeing right now that checks the most boxes is the new Ailunce HD2. It's my understanding that the firmware needs work, and there's still some bugs in the FPP, but it's as close as it comes to a service grade radio. I work outside, sometimes in austere environments, and having a solid radio matters. It would be nice to find a radio that checks all the boxes in commercial grade. Police and Fire radios are pretty bulletproof. Ham radios, not so much. Maybe someday we'll actually get a radio that performs as well, with amateur style firmware, that doesn't step on the manufacturer's toes. Fingers crossed.

I'll keep that in mind. Right now I have to know if it's working, and can't do that without the speaker. I already asked the seller if they could do anything. If and when I get it ota, I'll reach out to you.

If he is using the O5 control head the desk mic is RMN5070A and if he needs a 10 Ft extension the part number is PMKN4033A.
Again the aforementioned part numbers are for the O5 control head and not the "W" series control head.

Maybe you’d know. What’s the difference between the PMKN5070, & the 5050? One‘s for the XPR, & ones for the XTL, but they are exactly the same except on the 5050 the M emblem is the color of the mike, & on the 5070 the M emblem is silver. I use either one on either the XTL, or XPR, & there’s no difference. Just marketing?
